So far, we’ve explored two different guided meditations. These meditations offered constant reminders helping you keep your focus. This meditation will be a new kind of challenge. We will help settle you in, get you focused, then allow you to witness your own mind. There is a tendency to want to control, well, everything. Try to have kindness and patience with yourself. Instead of shaping what happens, let your awareness guide the experience. Practice being conscious of when your mind wanders, noticing what is a thought, and allowing yourself to sit with some physical discomfort without jumping to solve it (like an itch or an ache). The moments where we can be the witness of our own experience is what is known as mindfulness. We know it’s hard; that’s why it’s called a “practice.” So sit back, relax, and watch the movie in your mind.
