Love and acceptance are essential in life. Some of us put up walls, conditions, or qualifiers as ways to protect ourselves, or make ourselves feel better, when we’ve been hurt or are afraid of being hurt by love or the promise of love. Loving-kindness meditations are wonderful, but they can be difficult when we have a strained relationship with giving or receiving love. This meditation is fully guided (you won’t be asked to sit in silence with your thoughts). It asks you to allow yourself to receive love and to send love. It starts small, and it starts with the familiarly, then it moves outward. With practice, and over time, your heart will open. Self-love will develop and will create resiliency allowing you to bounce back from hate and allow you to love fearlessly.
