We believe resolutions, goals, intentions (whatever you want to call them) are integral to achieving your greatest desires, like getting pregnant. But, have you noticed how they tend to fade as quickly as they’re written down? Here’s an example:

You set a resolution of losing ten pounds by the end of January. Going to the gym after work gets added to your daily to-do list of what you ‘should’ do. You get a great start on your resolution during the first week by going to the gym five days in a row. The next week, you skip a few days. Soon you realize you haven’t been to the gym in over two weeks, and that you’re feeling a little fluffier. It’s now February and you feel worse about yourself than you did at the beginning of January. The couch and the latest TV drama are your new best friends — your resolution is no longer.

Oftentimes when we come up with a resolution it falls short. Here are a few reasons why:

We’ve all been there before and 2021 is going to be no different — unless you choose differently. We invite you to approach your resolution-making from a heart-centered space.

What would be possible if you cultivated a life experience based on how you want to feel

What does happiness look and feel like to you?

Here are a few positive words to consider:

Feel free to make your own list of 5-7 words that describe how you want to feel for the foreseeable future.

Now, here’s a visualization exercise for you:

Grab your journal and a pen. Get quiet. Sit still. Breathe deeply. Turn your focus inward. Open yourself up to receive what is meant for you. Then, ask yourself, “How do I want to feel?”

Listen closely for whispers of desire from your heart. Focus on what bubbles up for you. Lean in more. What do you notice? What does that experience look and feel like to you? Paint a picture in your minds-eye. Where might you go? Who might you meet? What would be possible if you achieved your greatest desires?

Open your journal and write down what comes to you. Draw a picture. Make a list. Get it all down on paper because when you speak it or write it down, it makes it even more real.
